Faith Over Fear: Trusting God’s Plan and Stepping into Your Purpose (7 Ways To Embrace God)

Do you ever wonder what you are doing with your life or question what your purpose is?

I know I do. There are days when I feel lost, as if I’m drifting in the wind, trying to figure out where I should focus my time and energy. On days when that feeling of being lost becomes overwhelming, I tend to shut down—sometimes even staying in bed, hoping to escape the uncertainty. But I’ve come to realize that hiding from the hard things only makes them harder.

God has given each of us a personal mission and a divine purpose. He has equipped us with the traits, strengths, and tools needed to fulfill this purpose, even when we don’t see it ourselves. The truth is, what might feel incredibly difficult for you may be impossible for someone else. That’s why we must take that first step, no matter how uncertain or afraid we feel.

Your Purpose Is Bigger Than You

At the core of it all, our purpose comes down to one main thing—to save lives. You might be thinking, How can my daily routine, my job, my fitness journey, my art, or even my struggles change lives? The answer is simpler than we often realize: by living our lives with intention, faith, and courage, we become leaders for others to follow. Being the leader he has called us to SAVES LIVES because we are leading them to God.

We are called to be lights in the darkness—vessels through which God’s love and truth shine. When we step forward in faith, even in the face of difficulty, we inspire others to do the same. When we share our testimony, when we push through fear, when we overcome struggles through faith, we show others that God is real, that He is love, and that He can be trusted.

Our willingness to do the hard things doesn’t just impact us—it gives others hope. It shows them that challenges can be overcome, that the impossible can become possible, and that when we follow God, we will always prosper—even if the path looks different from what we expected.

When Should You Take the First Step?

There are specific moments in life when God calls us to step out in faith, even when we feel unprepared. Some of these moments include:

• When we are scared – Fear is often a sign that we are standing at the edge of something important. The enemy wants to keep us stuck, but God calls us to walk forward in trust.

• When we don’t know what’s next – Uncertainty can be paralyzing, but faith isn’t about knowing every detail—it’s about trusting the One who does.

• When we are facing strongholds or challenges – Hardships are opportunities for growth. God uses difficulties to shape and strengthen us.

• When we experience loss – Even in our lowest moments, God is working. He turns pain into purpose.

• When we are given an opportunity – Sometimes, the hardest thing isn’t enduring a struggle—it’s accepting a blessing. When God opens a door, it’s up to us to walk through it.

Each of these moments requires us to choose faith over fear. God wants to see that we are willing to trust Him, even when we don’t have all the answers.

God Prepares Us for More

God tests us with the small things before He entrusts us with the big things. If we want to step into greater blessings, we have to be faithful with what’s in front of us.

Think about a child learning responsibility. Before they are given big privileges, like driving a car or making major decisions, they first have to prove they can handle small tasks, like keeping their room clean or doing their homework. Parents don’t withhold responsibilities out of cruelty; they do it out of love, knowing that preparation is necessary for success.

God does the same with us. He knows what we can handle and what we need to grow into the person He created us to be. He isn’t going to give us something that will destroy us. Instead, He allows us to go through refining seasons—seasons where we learn, stretch, and grow in faith so we can handle the greater purpose He has in store.

Every challenge, every delay, every difficult moment is part of His masterpiece. We are just one small puzzle piece in His grand design, and though we may not see the full picture now, we can trust that it is beautiful beyond what we could imagine.

What to Do When You Feel Lost

There will be times when we feel unsure of what God is doing in our lives. Seasons of waiting and uncertainty are inevitable. However, instead of shutting down or retreating into discouragement, there are practical steps we can take to reconnect with God and gain clarity on our next steps:

1. Read His Word

The Bible is our roadmap—our guide to navigating life’s questions and challenges. When we immerse ourselves in Scripture, we receive wisdom, encouragement, and reassurance that God is with us.

2. Journal Your Thoughts and Prayers

Writing down your thoughts, prayers, and experiences can be a powerful way to process emotions and recognize patterns in how God is moving in your life.

3. Talk to Him—Pray Boldly

God wants a relationship with us, not just a routine. We don’t have to come to Him with perfect words—He just wants us to come. Talk to Him like you would a best friend.

4. Connect with a Church or Christian Community

We are not meant to do life alone. Surrounding yourself with faith-filled people will encourage and strengthen you when you feel weak.

5. Spend Time in Nature

God’s creation is a reflection of His presence. Taking a walk outside, watching the sunrise, or simply breathing in fresh air can bring peace and clarity.

6. Be Creative

God is the ultimate Creator, and since we are made in His image, creativity can be a way to connect with Him. Whether it’s painting, writing, singing, or any other form of artistic expression, using your gifts can be an act of worship.

7. Trust the Process

Even when we don’t have all the answers, God does. Our job isn’t to figure everything out—it’s to trust Him step by step.

God Wants to Walk with You

God isn’t distant or uninterested in your struggles. He is a loving Father who desires to guide, strengthen, and uplift you through every challenge. He wants to be:

  • Your Best Friend
  • Your Protector
  • Your Provider
  • Your Healer
  • Your Source of Strength
  • Your Everything!

But in order to receive His guidance, we have to lean into Him. We have to trust that His plan is better than ours, even when it doesn’t make sense. We have to believe that every hardship, every fear, and every challenge is shaping us into who He created us to be.

Your Next Step

Right now, God is calling you to take a step. It may be small, or it may feel overwhelming, but either way, He is with you.

What is the hard thing in your life that you need to step into?

Whatever it is, know this: You are not alone. God is leading you, strengthening you, and preparing you for something far greater than you could ever imagine.

Take the step. Move forward in faith. Do the hard things.

Because when you do, lives will be changed—including your own.
